Taking care of your hearing is vital! We all want to live life to the fullest and that is why good ear & hearing health is important to people of all ages. There are many factors that can affect our ear health including age, the misuse of earbuds, constant exposure to very loud noises and of course the build-up of wax. If our ear health is compromised then our ability to hear deteriorates, and this often causes people to be socially withdrawn. If you are concerned about your hearing health, or you are looking for ear wax removal in Oxford then please book below.
In the United Kingdom, it is estimated that around 3.9% of the population requires management of ear wax each year with many people having to wait 12 to 16 weeks to get treatment. These statistics are astonishing and due to the lack of treatment available with the NHS, many people simply go on living their lives with this condition, unaware that they can get treated at their local pharmacy. Here at Woodstock Road Chemist, we want to help our customers with conditions such as this and that is why we have partnered up with TympaHealth to provide easy and accessible Ear Wax Removal in Oxford.
Thanks to modern technology, TympaHealth treatments and procedures can help to quickly diagnose ear & hearing conditions. Infections as well as excessive & compacted wax can be identified & treated quickly & painlessly.
Each appointment will take roughly 30 minutes. Videos will be taken before and after the appointment and can be shown to you as reference or if the clinician needs to inform you of something. In most cases, the initial problem is simply the presence of excessive wax. If this is the case, a fast & painless microsuction procedure can be performed to clear the ear of any debris or built up wax. This procedure could immediately improve hearing capabilities.
Ear Microsuction is the safest and most effective way to remove earwax. It works by inserting a low pressure suction probe into the ear. The probe will be controlled by one of our trained clinicians who will be wearing a microscope that will allow them to look clearly into the ear canal to remove the wax.
This procedure is painless and does not involve water being squirted into your ear canal like syringing does. It is a simple and clean procedure.

If you have been advised that wax is the problem in your ears it is recommend that you use 5 drops of olive oil in each affected ear twice a day and let the olive oil sit there by lying down or with the head tilted for 2 -3 mins each time for 5 – 7 days.
If the wax is excessive/hardened you can also use 5 drops of sodium bicarbonate ear drops first then follow with olive oil an hour later twice a day for 5 – 7 days. This ensures that all your wax can be removed without the need for follow-up appointments.
If you are unsure what the problem is then do not use the drops until the clinician has advised you after carrying out the otoscopy.
